At FV Community Integration Services, Black History Month is a special time to celebrate the rich heritage, achievements, and contributions of Black communities in the Fraser Valley and beyond. This month-long observance includes community gatherings that provide an opportunity to reflect on history, recognize trailblazers, and enjoy cultural performances that promote cultural understanding.
Throughout Black History Month, we host a variety of events and activities designed to educate, engage, and inspire people of all ages. These include cultural performances that feature vibrant music, dance, and storytelling, showcasing the richness of Black culture and traditions. Our workshops and panels invite participants to join discussions and interactive sessions focused on history, identity, and social justice. Additionally, we organize community gatherings where individuals can connect through games, art, and shared experiences that foster unity and pride. To empower the next generation, our youth programs offer mentorship, creative projects, and leadership opportunities.

Black History Month is more than a celebration—it’s a commitment to honoring the resilience, creativity, and contributions of Black individuals and communities. This important month encourages community gatherings that promote cultural awareness, preserve African heritage, and create meaningful opportunities for dialogue and connection. Through cultural performances, music, movement, history, and shared experiences, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the historical contributions of Black peoples in Canada and the vital role they continue to play in shaping our communities.
